He was son of Richard and Sarah (Roberts) Rich, Barnstable Co., Ma.
Thomas and his wife Mercy (Knowles) Rich had 12 children, and some of them are listed as follows;
1. Rebecca Rich was born in Eastham, Ma.;
2. Thomas Rich was born on 22 Dec 1702, in Eastham, and was married to Thankful Mayo, on 7 Oct 1725;
3. Mercy Rich (listed below);
4. James Rich b. 10 Jan 1705/6, in Eastham, and died before 23 Sep 1743;
5. Joseph Rich b. 1 Jan 1707/8, in Eastham.;
6. David Rich b. 17 Mar 1709/10, in Eastham. He was married to Hannah Brown, on 6 Dec 1734, in Eastham;
7. Sarah Rich b. 1 Sep 1712, in Eastham, and died before 23 Sep 1743. She was married to Jonathan Shaw, on 5 Oct 1731, in Eastham;
8. John Rich b. 14 Sep 1714, and died on 6 Aug 1777, in Middle Haddam, Middlesex Co. He was married to Lydia Young, on 13 Oct 1737, in Truro, Ma.
9. Thankful Rich b. 14 Oct 1716, in Eastham. She was married on 2 Jan 1744/5, to Alexander Martin;
10. Samuel Rich b. 14 Mar 1717/18, in Eastham;
11. Cornelius Rich b. on about 1720, in Eastham. He was married to Rhoda Fish, after 29 May 1747;
