  • Notes
    • From FindaGrave:

Hezekiah Hall was b. ca 1760 in Falmouth or Windham, Maine. He d. in Dearborn County, Indiana about 1820. (He does not appear in the 1820 census of Dearborn County, but the remainder of his family appear to be there.) Hezekiah Hall is the son of Hatevil Hall and Ruth Winslow. This branch of the Hall family descends from Deacon John Hall of Dover, New Hampshire.

Hezekiah married Elizabeth Cox 11 Nov 1784 at Falmouth, Cumberland County, Maine ("Cumberland Co. [Maine] Marriage Returns, p. 29). Hezekiah was the only one of his siblings who did not remain in Maine, and he permanently left the state abt. 1818, following "the year without a summer" when many Maine families moved to Ohio and Indiana.

Hezekiah served in the Revolutionary War, but he died before Congress approved pension benefits for Revolutionary War soldiers, so documentation of his service is limited. He served from the town of Windham, where he is mentioned as one who served for three years. In 1790 he was living next to his brother Job in Bakerstown Plantation (now Poland and Minot, ME), which at the time had been recently opened for settlement. In 1800 (U.S. Census) he was living in Thompsonborough (Lisbon), Me, and in 1810 (U.S. Census) he was in Sebec, Hancock Co, ME, where he was elected Fish Warden at the first town meeting in 1812. After the family moved to Indiana in 1818, they were living in Loughery Township, Dearborn County, at the time of the 1820 U.S. Census. Shortly before this census, Hezekiah apparently died. For additional information on Hezekiah and Elizabeth (Cox) Hall, see Robert R. King, "Hezekiah Hall, Bakerstown Plantation, Cumberland County, Maine" in "Maine Families in 1790," Vol. 11:274-279, ed. Joseph Crook Anderson II, Maine Genealogical Society.

Hezekiah and Elizabeth (Cox) Hall are the parents of 11 children: (1) John Hall, b. abt 1785; (2) Daniel Hall, b. 22 Sep 1788; (3) Moses Hall, b. 23 May 1790; (4) Lucy Hall, b. 19 May 1794 and married Ebenezer (Eben) Nocks; (5) Hezekiah Hall, b. 1801; (6) Submittance (Submit) Hall, b. abt 1804 and married Stephen Tinker; (7) Martha Hall, b. abt 1809 and married Obediah Bailey; (8) Sally (Sarah) Hall, b. abt. 1811 and died young; (9) Sally (Sarah) Hall, b. abt 1813 and Married Mr. ___ Sherburne; (10) Eliza Ann Hall, b. 11 Apr 1814 and married John Grace; (11) Ruth Hall, died young.
