      Captain Will A Hall was the oldest son of Capt Charles Frederick Hall and Julia Agnes Mars. He went to sea at the age of 13 as a deckboy and spent more than 50 years on the waters of the world. He was for years a master in the service of the Pacific Steamship company, the Admiral line then joining the Columbia River Pilots Oct 1, 1929. During WWII he became commander for the Coast Guard. Capt Hall was the pilot who guided the USS Houston out of Portland with President Roosevelt aboard.
