Mary - Born January 27, 1779 at Norwalk, Fairfield County, Connecticut - Married Lewis Sowles
Mary was the last of 9 children (7th daughter) born of Benjamin Marvin (1737-1822) and his wife Mehitable Marvin (1737-1810). Mary's siblings were: Mehitable (b. 1759), Benjamin (1762-1857), Esther (b. 1764), Lois (b. 1766), Clarinda (1769-1857), Anna (1771-1808), Thomas (1774-1869), and Sylvia (1776-1830).
At the age of 8 years, Mary moved in June 1787 with her parents to Alburgh, Franklin (now Grand Isle) County, Vermont.
Mary married, June 17, 1797, Lewis Sowles (1774-1851) by whom she had 14 children (6 sons and 8 daughters): Ira (1798-1837), William Lewis (1800-1878), Anna (1802-1829), Sylvia (1804-1867), Mary Ann (1805-1830), Julia (1807-1877), Benjamin Hiram (1808-1872), Mehitable (1810-1833), Lewis (1812-1848), June (1814-1878), Laura Miranda (1818-1840), Charles (1819-1820), Stephen John (1822-1869), and Sarah Melissa (1827-1877).
