MABEL ELECTA COVINGTON was born 28 Jul 1882 in Oklahoma "Indian" Territory to parents Jacob Amic Covington and Sarah Amelia Darlington. Although born in Oklahoma, Mabel was quick to correct anyone's perception about those born in that state/territory, and would often sternly admonish ". . .but I am NOT an 'Okie'."
She married CHARLES EDGAR "EDDIE" NOSLER 12 Nov 1904 in King County, WA.
Their 5 children were:
-Charles Edgar "NED" Nosler (Jr) b1906-d1978
-Katherine Ann "KASSIE" Nosler [Rutherford] b1908-d1996
-Mark Covington Nosler b1910-d1989
-Robert James Nosler b1917-d1940
-Margaret CAROLINE Nosler [Holcomb] b1919-d2004
1910 (*federal census), age 27, living in Redondo, CA, with husband and 2 oldest children, husband employed as a bookkeeper.
At age 55, during the early/middle years of the Great Depression, her husband died, and the Nosler family grocery business in Oakland went bankrupt. She was a single widow for the remaining 28 years of her life. At the time of the family's business demise, Mabel went to work as a "baby nurse", employed by families who needed help caring for a newborn. After several years of increasing dementia, Mabel died in 1961 at age 78 at Napa State Hospital.
Mabel died at age 78, 30 Apr 1961, burial at San Francisco National Cemetery with husband, Charles.
