The lineage of Joseph6 C. Collins Jr: (Joseph5, Hezekiah4, John3, John2, Henry1)
Joseph Collins, Jr. (68 yrs) was born Oct. 8, 1767 Hopkinton, RI. He was the third of nine children (Hezekiah, Solomon, Joseph, Jr, William, Beriah, Mary, Peter, Catherine, Joshua) born to Joseph Collins and Bathsheba Hoxie (1740-1823), dau. of Solomon and Mary Hoxie. Joseph's father Joseph Collins (Sr.), is said to have been a man of unusual strength and power, standing 6 feet 7 inches in his stockings. He died in Brookfield as also did his two eldest sons, Joseph C. Collins, Jr. and Beriah.
On Feb. 5, 1789 at the Friends Meeting house (Quakers) in Hopkinton, Rhode Island, Joseph married Hannah Sheffield b. Dec. 15, 1770. Died April 1, 1836.
The three eldest sons of Joseph Collins (Sr.) moved from Hopkinton, RI and settled in Brookfield NY in the DeLancy (Moscow) neighborhood.
This family of Quakers had a large society and were connected to the town of Madison. They first met at the home of Thomas Kenyon. About 1820 a house of worship was built and was fell filled with worshippers for about 25 years.
12 Children were born to Joseph C. Collins, Jr. and Hannah Sheffield: The first 10 were born in Hopkinton, RI and the last two in Brookfield, Madison County, NY.

3. Sheffield Collins (31 yrs) b: 24 Jul 1793 in Hopkinton, Washingon, RI, d. Jan. 23, 1824 Brookfield, NY Merchant and hotel keeper in Clarksville, NY, cause of death: scalded to death in his potashery at Clarksville by falling into a kettle of boiling potash. He was checking on his Potash business when the accident occured. (my ancestor)
4. Job Scott Collins b: 25 Dec 1794 in Hopkinton, Washingon, RI. m. Ruth Hall at Madison, NY Oct. 7, 1817. Built a number of shops and had several trades of harness and saddle making. wagon making and blacksmithing with his brother, Joshua.
5. Hannah Collins b: 22 Aug 1796 in Hopkinton, Washingon, RI, d. Oct. 9, 1824 m. Jonathan Jaquays.
6. Rhoda Collins b: 19 Aug 1798 in Hopkinton, Washingon, RI. m. Peleg Stanbro of Homer, NY.
7. Bathsheba Collins b: 5 Jun 1800 in Hopkinton, Washingon, RI,(1794- Aug. 1815) 20 yrs old. buried in Brookfield, NY Larkin Cemetery #45 Madison County, NY married Nathaniel Smith of Smyrna, NY
8. Elizabeth Collins b: 24 Mar 1802 in Hopkinton, Washingon, RI died at 11 years. buried on Beriah Collins' farm Brookfield, NY
9. Peter Collins b: 16 May 1804 in Hopkinton, Washingon, RI, d. 1876 M. Sara Hall, both died Iowa Falls, IA Built a tavern (establishment for eating)
10. Obediah Collins b: 16 Aug 1807 in Hopkinton, Washingon, RI d. Hopkinton, buried in Friends Yard March 2, 1808.
11. Joshua Collins b: 9 Jun 1809 in Brookfield, Madison, NY m. Almira Button of Brookfield, NY Built a number of shops and had several trades of harness and saddle making. wagon making and blacksmithing.
12. Mary Collins b: 23 Jul 1813 in Brookfield, Madison, NY, died Mar. 21,1883 m. Albert Button of Brookfield, NY died at Iowa Falls, IA. Built a store in Brookfield, NY
