  • Notes
    • From FindaGrave:

Death has conquered the sturdy and determined Dr. James Hall. He died at his home in West Davenport. He had been ill for several months and his death can be attributed only to a wasting away of the system.

He was one of the institutions of the city in all weathers and at frequent intervals until a short time ago. He moved with a step as elastic as that of a man forty years younger.

He was born in Orwell, Vermont in March 1794. He studied medicine and went to Buffalo, NY when quite a young man. He moved to Vigo county Indiana in 1814 where he married and practiced medicine for two years until he was thrown from a horse. He moved to Elgar county, Ill and in 1836 he came to Davenport with his family.

He was a writer and never belonged to a church. He was a Free Mason and one of the first and most revered members of the Scott County Pioneer Association.
