- Ellen I. (Hall) Wright, 86, of Enfield, passed away peacefully after a brief period of declining health Sunday, July 23, 2017, at Johnson Memorial Hospital with her loving family at her side.
Ellen was born May 27, 1931, in New Haven to the late Harold and Ida (Kiedrowski) Hall. She received her teaching degree from New Haven State Teacher's College. Ellen lived her childhood in Guilford and her married life mostly in Enfield. A selflessly dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she devoted her life to caring for her family and home. Ellen was a 57-year member of the Enfield Congregational Church, where she was very active in all facets of church life. In her leisure time she enjoyed gardening, quilting, singing, and genealogy.
Ellen is survived by her husband of 64 years, Leroy C. Wright; as well as her two sons, Charles Wright and wife, Ann, and Timothy Wright, and son-in-law Joseph Rancourt. She leaves behind five beloved grandchildren, Andrea Ruff, Dawn Johnson, Tim Rancourt, Jennifer Cristelli, and Charles D. Wright; and four great-grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may gather with her family during calling hours Wednesday, July 26, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, 43 Shaker Road, Enfield.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, July 27, at 11 a.m. in Enfield Congregational Church, 1295 Enfield St. Meet at church. Committal will then follow in Hazardville Cemetery, Enfield.
