      Patriot War Soldier.

      Deacon Dr. Jonathan Hall.

Jonathan enlisted in the Revolutionary War on June 30, 1776. Dr. Jonathan Hall was from Meriden, CT, New Hartford, CT and Skanesteles, NY.

He was a coronet and a private in Capt. John Couch's Company, Col. Bradleys Regiment, General Wadworth's Brigade of CT Troops, Revolutionary War. (Continental Army- General George Washington was the commander-in-chief of the army throughout the war.)

Jonathan was taken captive during the Revolutionary War at the surrender of Fort Washington near New York, November, 1776.
He was confined with 18 others of Capt. John Crouch's Wallingford company in a prison ship. Of these, only Dr. Jonathan Hall and another survived, and the latter died shortly after returning to his home in Meriden, CT.

In 1787 Dr. Jonathan Hall removed from Meriden, CT to New York. In the practice of his profession as a physician he became distinguished and was first to introduce inoculation for small pox in that part of the state.

Hall, Dr. Jonathan, practised medicine hereabout; was great on smallpox.
