Henry Grier, Sr. had a son, Thomas, whose son was also named Henry Grier. Henry's son, John Carlyle Grier, fought in the Civil War, where he contracted tuberculosis. He died in Durand, WI in 1879. His daughter, Ethel Jenny Grier, was my great-grandmother.

I've been trying to find information on my great, great grandfather, John Carlyle Grier (1843-1879) who was born in Barnesville, OH. He fought in the Civil War. His father was Henry Grier (born 1817, also in OH). Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Surnames: Grier, Cornwell, Davis
Do you know anything about JANE CORNWELL who was evidently John Caryle Grier's wife from what I gathered from the 1880 census report. Jane was listed as widowed - with children Jennie, Martha & Lula Grier and an older son Samuel Cornwell. It is this Samuel who in my ancestor and I just recently discovered who his mother was.
