    • From FindaGrave:

      Civil War Veteran
Private, Co. E, 18th Massachusetts Infantry

The son of Ahira and Olive Wadsworth, both born at Duxbury

He was a 24 year-old Shoemaker from Duxbury, MA, when he enlisted on May 23, 1861 and was mustered into the 18th Mass. Infantry on August 24, 1861 as a Private in Co. E. Due to illness caused by diarrhea and rheumatism, Wadsworth was detailed for light duty with the teamsters from about March 1862 until August 1862, when he returned to the ranks in the Regiment. He was one of 11 men of Company E cited for their courage at the battle of Fredericksburg, fought on Dec. 13, 1862, by Lt. Col. Joseph Hayes, regimental commander. Wadsworth saw action with the regiment at Gettysburg from July 2 to July 4, 1863. He was mustered out of military service at Readville, MA on Sept. 2, 1864 at the expiration of his three year enlistment.
