      "Samuel attended Lafayette College In Easton PA in 1847, and Delaware College in 1848-49; graduated from the College of NJ 1850; graduated from Princeton Seminary NJ 1850; preached at Amwell NJ 1853-57; at Perry IL 1857-62; pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Iowa City 1862-1879; started as pastor in Lawrence Kansas in Apr. 1879; received his D.D. from Iowa State University in 1873 . . . "
