- From Findagrave:
Anne Squire was born on Nov 30, 1591 in Charlton (near Ludwell), England. She was the daughter of Henry Squire and Charlotte Mackrell. She married Aquilla Thomas Purchase on Jan 28, 1613 in Somerset, England. They had eight known children in 20 years, two of which are listed below. Her 2nd Husband was Thomas Oliver of Boston which she married about 1637. She passed away on December 20, 1662, in Boston, Massachusetts, at the age of 71.
Addendum:
Anne Squire met Aquila Purchas in about 1612 near Kingweston, England & they were married in Jan 1613. Anne's sister Edith was married to Henry Adams effectively making her Aquila's Sister-in-law. Henry Adams conceived the idea of immigrating to America & thus in the summer of 1633 Aquila & Anne embarked on the voyage to their new land.
She and her husband & children emigrated to Dorchester, Mass. However it is thought that Aquila passed away during the voyage and was buried at sea, or shortly thereafter upon his arrival in America.
On Aug 5th 1633 the 'Widdow Purchas' was granted 4 Acres of land in the Twp of Dorchester where she resided until her death in 1662. This successful immigration no doubt precipitated letters back to her sisters in England and in 1638 Edith & Henry Adams along with her sister Margaret & her husband John Shepard came to America, thus fulfilling Henry's dream of coming to America.
