- Mrs Joseph Mayer
Mrs. Joseph Mayer died at her home 1405 East Water street Saturday evening shortly before elven o'clock. Mrs. Mayer was taken ill July 4 with kidney trouble and since then has been constantly failing and very seriously ill. She became ill on her birthday, the day she was seventy seven years of age.
Magdalene Effinger was born in Wurtenburg, Germany, in 1934. She was there married to Joseph Mayer in October, 1859, and lived in Germany until 1869 when with their children they came to this county. They located at once in Austin wihich has been their home ever since with the exception of a few years spent in Kansas City, Mo.
To Mr. and Mrs. Mayer were born eleven children, six of whom are living; M. J .Mayer, Joseph Mayer Jr., Mrs. Susie Glassel and Miss Theresa Mayer residing in Austin; Joh Mayer of Kansas City, Mo., and Mrs. Mary Bradbury of Oakland, California. She leaves beside her children, her husband, one brother living in Walla Walla, Wash., seventeen grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren.
Mrs. Mayer was a member of St. Augustine's church and also a member of the Rosary society of that church. She was a devoted Christian and a willing worker for her church. She will be missed not only by her family but by those for whom she was ever willing to do a kind and friendly act. The funeral will be held Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock from the residence on East Water street and at 9:30 from St. Augustine's church. Interment will take place in the Catholic cementery.

- Mrs. Joseph Mayer
Mrs. Joseph Mayer, aged 77 years died Saturday evening, July 22, 1911, at her home on east Water Street of Kidney trouble after a brief illness. Magdaline Effinger was born in Wurterburg, Germany, and was married there to Joseph Mayer in October 1859. In 1869, they came to this country with their children, locating in Austin and the home has since been here, with the exception of several years spent in Kansas City.
Six children survive: M. J. Mayer, Joseph Mayer, Jr., Mrs. Susie Glassel and Miss Theresa Mayer of Austin; John Mayer, of Kansas City and Mrs. Mary Bradbury of Oakland, Cal. The husband, also, survives.
Funeral services were held at St. Augustine's church yesterday forenoon. Interment in the Catholic cemetery, Deceased was a devoted member of the Catholic Church and a member of the Rosary society and was highly regarded by all who knew her.
