      "John Lyman. The second of this name, a lieutenant. Settled at South Farms, molested by the Indians, 1704, a year disastrous to Pascomac neighbors."

      "John Lyman, Jr. An inn-keeper for fifty-three years at South Farms. Himself one of ten children, so in his turn he became the father of the same number. One went to Yale."

      JOHN LYMAN, eldest son of John and Dorcas, was born in Northampton. He lived in the part of the town called the South Farms, and kept a public house near Smith's Ferry.

      Both John and wife Mindwell died at South Farms, Northampton
