- LEGISLATOR DIES IN MARLBORO
Benjamin Gardner Hall, 79, of Marlborough, died early Tuesday night at Keene after a brief illness.
He was the son of the late Daniel H. and Hannah M. (Piper) Hall. He had been be resident of Marlboro for 59 years. For 25 years he was a partner in the firm of Hall & Croteau in that town, retiring in 1940. Before this, Mr. Hall was a chief of police of Keene.
He had been active in civic and Legislative circles for many years, and was a state senator for the 11th district in the years 1919 and 1920. At the time of his death, he was representative of the town of Marlborough in the state legislate having served in this capacity for five terms. He was a past noble grand of Paquoig order of odd fellows and a member of the social friends lodge F&AM, of Keene.
Besides his wife Adeline M. Hall, he leaves one son, Max A. Hall of Marlboro and seven grandchild. Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Federated Church in Marlboro, Rev. Raymond A. Putnam, Pastor, and Rev. Herbert J. Foote will conduct the service. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Marlboro. Arrangements are under the direction of Hall & Croteau Funeral Home in Marlboro.
