Schenectady -- David L. Hall, 84, of Hillside Avenue, died Wednesday, November 26, 2003, at Ellis Hospital.
He was born July 4, 1919, in Providence, RI and was a son of the late Charles Merrill and Ruth Elizabeth Hall.
He attended the University of Rhode Island and received his B.S. in engineering from Brown University. David was hired by General Electric Company in Lynn, MA. He was recruited while attended Brown University. After he married Mary Ida, he was transferred to Schenectady. Over the years, he held various positions in management with G.E. Co., Knolls Atomic Power Lab, and Kesselring Site. He retired with over 45 years of service. David had lived in the Schenectady area since 1945.
He was a member of Sons of the American Revolution, G.E. Quarter Century Club, formerly a member of the Edison Club and the Lower Mohawk Club. He was commissioned by the United States Navy while working at G.E. Co., for his experience in engineering. He was stationed in Bermuda and the South Pacific during World War II.
David was predeceased by his wife, the late Mary Ida Hall, who died in February of 1990.
Survivors include his sons, Dean Bryant Hall of Niskayuna and Charles Merrill Hall II of Charlestown, RI; his daughters, Marilyn Ruzzo of Schenectady and Ruth Hall Daly of Schenectady; his sister, Hope Turkey of Charlestown, RI; his grandchildren, John Richard Ruzzo, David Dean Ruzzo, Thomas Gretz Ruzzo, David Nathaniel Hall, Mary Emily Hall, and Christine Elizabeth Hall; and his great-grandchildren, Gabriella and Natalia Ruzzo and Rick and Ryan Bottieri. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A period of visitation will be held on Saturday from 12 to 2 p.m. at Light's Funeral Home, 1428 State Street in Schenectady. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Funeral services and interment will be held at the family's convenience in Rhode Island.
