- Charles L. Sargent, 83, a longtime resident of Havre, died Sunday Jan. 21, 1996, at a Havre hospital of natural causes. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 23, at the Highland Cemetery in Havre, with Rev. Stacy Landry officiating. Burial will follow at the Cemetery.
He was born March 2, 1912, at Chinook, the son of Clarence and Mary (McFarlane) Sargent. He spent his earlier years at the Milk River Coal Mine and later engaged in farming and ranching in the Havre area for nearly 45 years until his retirement in 1992.
He was preceded in death by one son; five brothers; one sister; and two grandsons. He is survived by his wife, Frances; two sons, Duane and Don Sargent; daughter-in-law, Donna Sargent; two sisters; one brother; 12 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Memorials in his honor may be made to the Eagles Manor loud speaker fund, to the Sixth Avenue Christian Church, or to a donor's choice.
