      Gamaliel Phippen was born in 1625 in Weymouth, Dorset, England. His father David Phippen b1590 was 35 and his mother Sarah Pinckney Phippen was 29.

      He married Sarah Purchase in 1648 in Boston, Mass. They had 10 known children in 23 years between 1649 and 1672.

      He passed away suddenly on February 1, 1672, in Boston, Massachusetts at the relatively young age of 47 and was laid to rest in this local cemetery.

      The son of ancestors, DAVID & SARAH PHIPPEN, he married Sarah Purchase.

      Sarah Phippen, their daughter (no memorial found for her) was the second wife of Benjamin Hodges (b. 1666, d. 1713, m. first Mary Baldwin) of Milford, CT. He was her second husband, her first husband being ______ Houghter. Benjamin Hodges & Sarah Phippen were married in 1682.
