HOLDEN -- Edwin A. Stowell, 87, of River Street, passed away at home on Saturday, November 27, 2010, after a long illness.
He leaves his wife of 63 years, Bertha A. (Hall) Stowell; four sons, Brian E. Stowell of Worcester, Bradford P. Stowell and J. Michael Stowell both of Holden and David T. Stowell of Shirley; a daughter, Dawn M. Clark of Worcester; two sisters, Arlene Dunham of South Royalston and Geraldine Davis of Baldwinville; six grandchildren; a great-grandson and many nephews and nieces.
A son, John Stowell; a daughter, Dianne Stowell; a brother Donald Stowell; two sisters, Irene Clark and Frances Greeley predeceased him.
He was born in Royalston the son of Harry A. and Mary (Berard) Stowell and lived most of his life in Holden. Edwin was a Navy Veteran of World War II serving in the South Pacific. He was a machinist at Heald Machine Company for 28 years before retiring in 1984. He was a member of St. Mary's Church. Edwin was able to enjoy 23 of his 26 years of retirement by traveling and spending time with his family and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 30th, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. The funeral for Mr. Stowell will be held from the funeral home with an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, Dec. 1st, in St. Mary's Church, 114 Princeton Street, Jefferson.
Burial will be private and held at a later date. In lieu of Flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 2200, Jefferson, MA 01522 or to a charity of one's choice.
