- Leola (Lee) Grace Stevens passed away on October 23, 2004 at Enloe Hospital.
She was born November 13, 1910 in Rivera, California. The original Stevens family were early pioneers in the southern California area.
Lee and her husband, Jack, were married in 1932 in Whittier, California, and while on vacation in Butte County, the family purchased property and eventually moved to Oroville in 1952. Lee was Past Worthy Matron of Eastern Star and was very active with her husband in the Mason and the Shrine.
Lee is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Belinda Stevens of Oroville; step-grandson, Travis Spinale; two beloved granddaughters, Renea Moore of Cottonwood, California and Ronda Young of Oshkosh, Nebraska; three great-grandchildren, Julie, David and Lisa Young of Oshkosh, Nebraska; one surviving brother, Loran and his wife, Evelyn Sasseen of Arizona. Lee has three special friends, Carol Lake of Oshkosh, Nebraska, her sister-in-law Garnette Ross of Southern, California who was her friend from their teenage years and a traveling companion in later life, and Joann Woods, a friend and constant companion when they worked together at the Montgomery Wards in Oroville.
My mother was kind, generous, loved people and was devoted to her friends and family. She would go out of her way to help whenever she saw someone in need. She had an abiding faith in God and is now at peace and rest in heaven.
There were no services or memorials, instead we request that in memory of my mother, one would pray and help those in need. This would please my mother greatly. Goodbye Mom, until we're together again.
