  • Notes
    • From Marshia Kibble, June 2016:

Benjamin Hall joined the reorganized church and then got booted out. His wife Sarah Snider was also Mormon. Sarah Snider was married to William Hooker in IL. Lucinda is hers. Sarah's sister married another Hooker and had two sons William and Samuel. I don't know who Sarah's missing child is, but it would have to be a Hooker.

Benjamin died in the county poorhouse. Sarah is living with her brother in law Eli Cox in 1900. His info is in the family bible, and I have a two sentence newspaper obit for him. I have tried to get the poorhouse records thru the Missouri archives, but they tell me they couldn't find them or had no record of him. I suspect he is buried in the poorhouses graveyard.

As far as Samuel goes, my great aunt wrote down a family bio and had Samuel listed as the father. At this point I have no way of confirming it. I have hired researchers to find him in Onandaga Co.

There is a big branch of the Hall family that came to that county from either Vermont or Connecticut. Maria is a sister and according to my aunt she stayed in NY and married a man with the last name of Hinckle or some version of that name. Alexander, I keep looking for.

Benjamin's first marriage I found my accident when I was at Salt Lake doing research. It was a baptism by proxy record. It gave her name and birthdate and said it was Benjamin in Caldwell county. I also found where she had purchased land in Caldwell county. Family lore again: Benjamin, his father in law, and brother in law went to California during the gold rush. Ashal dies there in CA; his will is probated in Missouri. Harriett, Ben's wife, either died in Caldwell county or went back to NY and died there. Her mother had also come out to Missouri and moved back to NY. There is either a family bible or book about the alvord family listing Benjamin. They had two children but they died. Ben is living next to his brother in law on the 1840 census

My aunt states that Benjamin was about 8 when his dad died. I don't know how much stock to put into what she has written; it was all told to her.
