In 1881, Nathaniel Porter Keene purchased four acres of land on the Fore River in Weymouth in order to establish his shipyard. In 1884 the Haroldine, largest schooner built in Weymouth at the time, was launched from the Nathaniel P. Keene's shipyard in North Weymouth.
