  The following incident in the life of Hannah Hall is found in a history of Newport county, R. I. : "General La Fayette used to frequently stop at the home of Hannah's parents; she was a child at the time, and the General used to tend her; one day while in his care at a window, the window fell and injured her hand ; this was previous to the battle of Rhode Island, which was fought in August, 1778. When General La Fayette visited America in 1825, he called to see Hannah, then Mrs. Gifford."
