JOHN, eldest son of John & Alice Shaw, was born by about 1622 (bought land 1643 [PCR 12:91])& came to Plymouth Colony as a child. He apparently still living on 26 March 1658 [MD 10:34-35], but presumed to be dead on 30 January 1663[/4] when his brother James received the double portion due to the eldest son [MD 10:35].

      FINDaGRAVE contributor kevinmcrae adds:

Believe the first son named John died at an early age. John Shaw mentioned in Plymouth records I believe to be Jonathan Shaw. This would also explain James getting eldest son double share
