- From FindaGrave:
In present-day terms, Silas was born at Sharon, Norfolk County, Massachusetts. However, in 1774 when he was born, the town was known as Stoughtonham and was part of Suffolk County in the Massachusetts Bay Colony. The Massachusetts Bay Colony declared independence from Great Britain in 1776. Sharon was incorporated in 1783 and the town was part of the land taken from Suffolk County and given to Norfolk County in 1793.
Also worth mentioning is that the Moose Hill Burying Ground (not called Moose Hill Cemetery, except at Find a Grave) is the same as the present-day High Plain Street Cemetery.
Silas was the 4x-great-grandson of William Bullard, who was one of four Bullard brothers (John, Robert, William, and George, sons of William Buller and Grace Bignette) to settle in the area of Watertown, Massachusetts Bay Colony, and who was among the first men to receive a grant of land at Dedham at its founding. Silas was the son of Ebenezer Bullard and Judith Goodell. Ebenezer was the son of Samuel Bullard Jr and Elizabeth (or Submit) Wright (or Wight). Samuel Jr was the son of Samuel Bullard and Hannah Thorpe. Samuel was the son of Isaac Bullard and Ann Burnap. Isaac was born in England and came to New England with his father in about 1634. He was the son of William Bullard, of Barnham, England, and his first wife, whose name may have been Mary.
